Grief can get stuck in our bodies if we don’t find a way to release it. This is a movement class designed to help you tap into what your body is telling you it needs, and to shake loose any energy/gunk that might have gotten stuck in your body during grief. All bodies welcome.

Grief can get stuck in our bodies if we don’t find a way to release it. This is a movement class designed to help you tap into what your body is telling you it needs, and to shake loose any energy/gunk that might have gotten stuck in your body during grief (or just from living in 2025).

Maybe you’ve noticed that sometimes you just need to jump up and down and scream or curl up in a ball and rock but that doesn’t feel socially appropriate. This is a space where we will do just that: shake and move in silly ways so the stress, grief, sadness, rage, etc. that might be stuck in our bodies can move fully through and out of us.

Of course this does not make grief “end.” To me this practice is like changing our own personal air filter so that our system doesn’t get “clogged up” as we continue to live and experience grief and joy and all the other emotions of being human.

WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE

I will talk a little bit in the beginning about what to expect. Then some soft music will start and I will lead a body scan from a position of stillness.

From there we will start by minimally shifting weight back and forth, incrementally increasing our amount of movement. Then I will lead you from your feet up to your head, isolating each body part in movement as we check in with it.

Once we’ve moved through the whole body I will provide prompts that encourage you to intuitively listen to and follow your own body. The songs and prompts will ebb and flow between more energetic and quieter moments, crescendo-ing at a final big release before leading you back to a calm and eventually still and grounded state.

At any point if you “hear” something that your body wants you to do, I encourage you to follow that rather than me.

If you aren't yet sure about listening to your own body, no worries. I will be demonstrating movements the whole time, so you will open and release from every part of you even if you can't directly connect with some or most of your body intuitively.

Because of the open nature of this workshop, it could look more like a dance party for some people and a long shavasana for others, depending on what each body wants on that day.

All bodies and all states of mobility are welcome and encouraged to show up :).
